Santa arrived in Moville on Sunday evening to the delight of all the families who had turned up to welcome him to Moville and see the Christmas lights switched on to light up the town and usher in the festive season.
As usual Santa had made special transport arrangements and arrived in the big red Moville Fire Brigade Engine with flashing lights as his reindeer are not on active duty until Christmas Eve and are currently building their strength up at the North Pole (No not the one in Inishowen!) for their busy Christmas duties.
Even the rain and wet weather conditions could not dampen the enthusiasm of the children as well as their Mum’s and Dad’s as they waited for Father Christmas to arrive at his temporary grotto in Moville’s Square to give out gifts and receive letters from children who hoped that were on Santa’s ‘Nice’ list asking for their special presents for Christmas delivery.
All the hard work that is carried out throughout the year and not just at Christmas, can be clearly seen when the Moville Christmas Tree goes up and the lights go on and everyone turns up at the Square for what is one of the most special evenings in Moville for local families to enjoy.
The Christmas Light switch on is also an important night for local shops, cafes, bars etc and provides a much need boost for our local businesses in the town in the run up to Christmas.
So a big ‘WELL DONE’ to all the people involved for putting in all the hard work throughout the year into making the Moville Christmas Tree switch on such a great local event for everyone to enjoy and celebrate in the run-up to what we hope will be a great Christmas in Moville 2017.
